Actions Speak Louder than Words
About four years ago, while the rest of my friends were figuring out where they were going after graduation, I was the lost one. After being rejected from every school but my backup, I was waiting for the day that I would find out from the last school on my list, my only hope, and my top choice - UC Berkeley. When I found out that night that I didn’t get in, I was extremely devastated and disappointed.
Less than an hour later, three of my best friends from high school come walking into my room with a big homemade heart card and a gallon of ice cream. They managed to plan all of it without me knowing at all, including calling each other up, rushing around on a school night and calling my house and talking to my dad. It meant the world to me that they cared enough to do something like that for me and knew how much it all mattered to me. That was the day that I knew that friends will prove to be true friends when their actions speak louder than their words.
To tell you the truth, I had forgotten about this event for a while and how awesome my best friends are, which should never ever happen. Lately, I’ve been learning a lot and trying to grow up and this definitely came back at the right time.
Look for the friends that will do something and be there for you even at the times when you don’t say anything at all.
